As young African youth meet together in a conference, little did i know that they each had a burning pressure to change their circumstances which is surrounded by discrimination, unemployment, legal biasness and the clouds that cannot allow the African youth to penetrate the sport industries in Australia. Young people spoke with dismay of the unfairness and discrimination against them in joining and playing for the Australian team. Unless you first go out of Australia and play for a foreign team and proved to be good, they can never take you on board however good you are (Conference participant)
The two days conference was filled with skill training and empowerment sessions on advocacy, legal system in Australia, project planning, and motivational speeches from invited guests including Mercy Akongo, drawing from her upcoming book; "My Life`s journey" who they described as their role model.
At the end of this conference, young people who were able to attend confessed that they feel more empowered after this day to devise ways and to get more informed in tackling challenges that are surrounding them and the African community in Australia...There is Hope...
