I must start by saying that i am not a fan of M7 but i applause Uganda for standing up to defend itself against defamation by the so called "mighty powers" who for years supported Museveni ignoring the corruption, human rights abuses and the pain of Ugandans, just because they wanted to use Museveni to accomplish their listed interest. Danmark, Britain, and Ireland suddenly also woke up and has frozen aid to Uganda until the fund channeled through the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) is accounted for. My questions are, where were they to carry these measures in the last 27 years when the people of Northern Uganda were used as bait for aid by the government, the aid that never reached them? Where were they to hold government accountable for the daily reported high level of corruption, human rights abuses within Uganda? They chose to pay a deaf ear to the ordinary people, a deaf ear to the suffering of the ordinary innocent Ugandans that disappeared, and those killed for trying to stand out for their rights? Instead they continuously funded the government which money went to enrich the few within government.
There are many people, children including older people like Emath Majestica Apio, whose condition is invisible to the corrupt government officials, to the mighty powers/"donor with strings attached" who use their situation to trade their interests, together with the so called investors ready to swindle their land for their own gain, the only hope for survival for these ordinary people. There are many ordinary, good-hearted individuals in developed countries who have made sacrifices and donated, and still continue to, not knowing how these donation are used stays in the hands of the donor country and recipient governments, and not necessarily determined by the conditions and actual needs of the poor but that it will depend also on the mutual interests of the two governments. Please....please do not get me wrong here; I am happy that Denmark, Britain and Ireland took action now and froze aid, but this is something they should have done years ago and paid more attention to the people and operating using that mirror, acknowledging the opinions of the ordinary struggling people, plus those small community based organizations working with them and not forgetting individuals in developed countries who sacrificed their resources to play a role in making a difference within their global communities. I bet they had interest and didn’t care but with Uganda @50, Museveni has realized his priorities, his risks to his downfall and has reached a point where he is registering the needs of Ugandans, and prioritizing it against the pressure and selfish interest of the western world and for that, they have decided to turn against him, hence freezing aid and accusing Uganda of supporting the M23 rebels. What a double standard world we leave in!!

And just for the record, Uganda was requested by the DRC government and the UN General Secretary to seek solution to the situation in DRC. And Uganda; in its capacity as Chair of the International Conference of the Great Lakes Regions, chose to neglect the needs of its people for years; and sent the Ugandan children/troops to Somalia, DRC and Central Africa Republic spending billions of tax payers` money in these countries with the hope of bringing peace to the region. For some reasons beyond my understanding or which my small head cannot still get or understand at this point, Uganda is being attacked and portrayed badly by these small group of “Independent UN Expert Group”. Uganda denies this allegation and demands evidence for this, and being hurt by this allegations, Uganda is withdrawing from all its peace keeping missions activities in other countries. Responding to this; the United Nation is declaiming the report produced by this “UN Expert Group” linking Uganda to the M23 rebels with the President of the UN Security Council, Ambassador H.S Puri stating; “The views expressed by independent experts do not necessarily reflect those of the United Nations”; also acknowledging the significant role Uganda is playing in the maintenance of peace and security in several countries, particularly in Somalia.
In my own opinion, this is a brain game played by greedy dirty minds, implicating Uganda with the M23; in their desperation to make Uganda/Museveni unpopular since he is no longer useful to them and to create war between Uganda and its neighbors; the weapon they always use to get a chance to loot valuable resources from their preys, which will indeed bring suffering to the people of Uganda. Our oil and minerals discoveries are the motivation here and they are ready to do anything to get it. I applause Uganda once again for the decision to withdraw from Somalia, DRC and CAR peace keeping mission (they should have done this long time ago) and these resources put to better use; to develop, empower and rescue millions of Ugandans living in extreme poverty.
